THE OCEANO HOTEL AND RESTAURANT, MIJAS COSTA

El Oceano Beach Hotel and Restaurant in Mijas Costa, is a popular dinner venue with spectacular views. In 2020 extensive restaurants were implemented and Cape Reed were instrumental in the design and construction of the restaurant’s terrace, with a brief to create a unique dining experience.

The restaurant terrace is famous for its wonderful sea views now features a wooden structure created from natural hardwearing eucalyptus wood columns and slats imported from South Africa. The wood is painted white and enclosed in glass and stone to create the contemporary light and bright atmosphere that coveys its status as a luxury dining venue by the sea.

Cape Reed’s design team and engineers began working on the concept for the project in spring 2015, taking inspiration the ancient Phoenicians, who were ancient trading partners in Mediterranean. In total, the project required over 28.6 metric tons of wood and 12.6kms of wooden slats.

The existing structure was demolished at the start of 2021 and the new structures completed in time for the hotel’s reopening during Easter week.
